User Guide

A step-by-step guide to using zk.money. Please refer to the 'frequently asked questions' section in case you need help.

Getting Started

To get started, you'll just need an Ethereum wallet and some ETH, DAI, renBTC or other zk.money supported assets.

Step 1: Connect your wallet

Connect your wallet to zk.money (natively with MetaMask or any other wallet via WalletConnect), or create a new hot wallet to send yourself ETH or DAI.

zk.money currently supports ETH, DAI and renBTC. We plan to introduce additional tokens, so stay tuned!

Step 2: Pick a Username

Your username is a recognizable alias that makes it easy for your friends to send you crypto.

Step 3: Register

This may take several minutes, do not close the window until you see the dashboard.

Step 4: Deposit ETH / DAI / renBTC

Deposit at least 0.01 ETH for the username registration to be complete. You'd be able to withdraw your tokens later at any time.

Step 5: Shield

Convert your ETH, DAI and renBTC into zkETH / zkDAI / zkrenBTC.

Shield your preferred asset by clicking the “Shield” button on your dashboard.

Now, you can send the asset yourself (send to own username), or directly to another zk.money username.

Users can pay different fees depending on settlement time

Wait until SHIELD + ACCOUNT transactions are settled. Only then is your username successfully registered. This may take a few hours.

Sign

After clicking ‘Send’, you’ll need to sign the transaction via your wallet.

You’ll be able to track your transaction status in the dashboard. Please note that while your account balance may show zkETH/DAI available, you won’t be able to send any funds until your new sendable balance is settled.

Step 6: Send / Withdraw

Congrats! Now you have zkAssets, you are now in privacy mode 🎉 Send zkETH / zkDAI / zkrenBTC to other zk.money usernames or any Ethereum address. Simply paste the recipient details into the recipient section.

💡 If the recipient is a zk.money username, they will receive zkETH/DAI directly into their account balance. In case the recipient is a regular Ethereum address, they will receive regular "unshielded" ETH/DAI tokens to their wallet.

Transaction History

Track your private transactions history in your dashboard, and follow any transaction live on the Aztec block explorer.
